Joe Tumino (below, right) established Tumino’s garden center at 271 Scarlett Rd. in 1966, offering an European style of gardening, Joe Tumino saw more value in a tomato plant than in a flower which is why we still have one of the best selection of vegetables in the city. Changing customer needs prompted the addition of more flowers, rose, evergreens, shrubs fertilizers and soils until Tumino's grew into the full fledged garden centre it is today. Joe Tumino is now retired and his two sons, Aldo and Louie now run the business.

Lou & Aldo Tumino both worked in the family business as they were growing up. After finishing school Lou (shown in photo) studied Horticulture at Humber College and then worked at a local independent garden centre for 8 years. He returned to his roots to take over the family business at the tender age of 34. After several years in other areas of retail Aldo joined his brother at the garden centre. Lou is now directing most of his energies to satisfying the design and landscaping needs of our customers while Aldo searches out new plants and products for our diverse clientele.
